Overland Expo West 2027 Guide
Overland Expo West 2027 is May 14–16 at Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff. Ticket prices for 2027 aren't out yet. The decision that matters most is parking: on-site day parking is sold online only, ahead of time, and the official FAQ says it always sells out before show month. If you miss it, the free lot at Northern Arizona University with a shuttle of about 10 minutes is the fallback, and it's a fine one.
The show runs 9am–5pm Friday and Saturday and 9am–3pm Sunday. Everyone 15 and older needs a ticket. According to the FAQ, weekend and day passes usually don't sell out, but camping packages often do, and prices go up as the show gets closer.
Day visit or camping?
For one day of walking the vendor rows, a day pass and the NAU shuttle are the low-stress choice. The FAQ lists the shuttle hours twice with slightly different morning starts (7:45am and 8:45am Friday and Saturday). Both versions end at 9:30pm, and Sunday runs 8:45am–3:30pm. Plan around the later start.
Camping changes the trip. It's festival-style in the pines with no hookups, and it's for ground tents, rooftop tents, vehicle camping, Class B vans, smaller overland rigs and motorcycles. No RVs or travel trailers. Premium sites sit closest to the exhibitors, but they're limited to vehicles and trailers under 13 feet. A few rules worth planning around:
- Camp check-in opens 8am Thursday, and everyone has to be off the grounds by 11am Monday.
- Friends who want to camp together have to arrive together and hold the same ticket type. There's no saving spots.
- Arrive with your water tanks full. The camp areas have no spigots for filling tanks.
- No wood or charcoal fires. Propane units with an on/off switch are allowed unless fire danger closes those too.
- Quiet generators are allowed, but they go off at 10pm.
Premium campers check in off-site first. The FAQ's dated listing for May 14–16 points to Flagstaff Mountain RV & Campground at 1508 Historic Route 66, while an older entry on the same page names a different address, so go by what your confirmation email says.
Weather at 7,000 feet
The FAQ puts daytime around 65°F, dry and often windy, with nights at 29–35°F. That's a 30-plus-degree drop after sunset, so the sleeping bag matters more than the shade. Sunrise is around 5:30am and sunset around 7:30pm. The organizers also point out that you'll dehydrate faster at altitude and that alcohol hits harder. Potable water stations are there for refilling bottles.
Getting there
Fort Tuthill is just off I-17, about five minutes from Flagstaff's groceries, fuel and ice. Flying in, the FAQ notes Flagstaff's Pulliam Airport (FLG) is a 30-minute connection from Phoenix Sky Harbor, or you can rent at PHX and drive about two and a half hours. The venue has cell coverage, but it can struggle on the busiest days, and there's no Wi-Fi. Download tickets and maps before you go.
There's no Overland Expo Training at West in 2027, only sponsor and exhibitor ride-and-drives. Class sign-ups open about two weeks before the show through the Overland Expo app, and you can also walk up to classes. Vehicles, bikes and e-scooters stay out of the vendor area. Drones aren't allowed at all, because the site is within a mile of the airport.
Refunds
Tickets are refundable or transferable to another event until 60 days before opening day. For May 14, 2027, that's about March 15. After that, every sale is final, add-ons like parking included, and there are no weather refunds. If your plans could change, buy early enough to keep some refund window, or add the optional purchase protection at checkout. It can't be added after the order goes through.
Know a good show price
Plenty of gear gets sold off the exhibitor floor at West, and a "show special" is only special if it beats what the same item costs online. Here's where some of the big-ticket categories sit on our tracker right now:
